I don't know how I missed seeing this movie over the years, but I'm so glad I caught it the other morning on TCM.
Born Yesterday, staring Judy Holiday and William Holden, tells the story of a crook's ditsy girlfriend becoming educated. With humor, this 1950 film reminds us of the power of knowledge. And after watching it, I'm a new fan of Judy Holiday. Thank you, Turner Classics!
hey you have an award! :) Come on by!

I'm still angry about the fact that this genius comedienne died so young. I love BORN YESTERDAY. I'm in awe of Judy Holiday. My first exposure to her was in Adam's Rib. As a young girl, I was fascinated by the sexual politics between Spencer Tracy and Katherine Hepburn and Judy Holiday added more interest to the mix. I don't care if it makes me sound old. They don't make movies like this anymore.
ReplyDeleteSarah, I didn't know anything about her before BORN YESTERDAY. I'd heard her name. After the movie, I looked her up and was sad to learn she'd died so early in her career.
ReplyDeleteI saw ADAM'S RIB years ago, but it's time to see it again. This time, I'll be watching for another reason.
In BORN YESTERDAY, I loved seeing Holiday prance over to the dictionary and look up a word.
